Belinda Robertson – Ecommerce

The Belinda Robertson brand was born out of a desire by its creator, Belinda Dickson OBE, to create a fashionable, luxury item using traditional production methods. The result is the finest, most luxurious Scottish cashmere in the world.

Ambition

Ikon Digital was approached by Belinda Robertson to develop their new website and keep it within current company branding. The Ikon Digital Ecommerce team worked closely with Belinda Robertson to deliver a new and modern website that is more client friendly.

The new website needed to extend the product range and bring the e-marketing and the website together. The website also had to be easier for staff to maintain and update. The site needed to show off the Belinda Robertson cashmere ranges to give the shopper a fuller shopping experience and allow customers to purchase the bespoke Black Label range online.

Actions

The Ikon Digital Ecommerce team reviewed the user experience and worked closely with Belinda Robertson staff to ensure that the look and feel of the collections were reflected throughout the design of the site.

To achieve the goal, a mixture of XHTML, CSS, jQuery, PHP, MySQL, Drupal and its Ecommerce plugin Ubercart were blended to provide the site framework.

The improvements to the website were improving the top level navigation allowing users to access more areas of the website faster and more easily. An improved landing page with added impact helps showcase the various ranges of luxury cashmere on offer.

Social networking was also added to the website which will allow customers to chat and share thoughts about the products through the popular social media sites

Impact

The Belinda Robertson website was successfully launched March 2010 with its new style.

The Ikon Digital Ecommerce team continue to work closely with Belinda Robertson to develop the brand experience and customer journey.
