Google on Google and Digital Marketing

Google has started a youtube page which give you advice on how to get your website better found in google and use better standards for your website so that it can be ranked higher. I have looked through a range of different videos that they have uploaded, each video is trying to answer a question that someone has about google search engine. Below I will show you the video and write some of my own thoughts about each video.

Will adding my Twitter feed to my website increase my PageRank?

I very much agree with google on this one about twitter being on your website, its not going to instantly help, but if it can create more intrest in your website then that is the benifit, which will take a bit of time to happen.

What signals are used in ranking other than PageRank?

Having a high page rank is not the be all and end all of search engine ranking, this is what google has said many times. It all comes down to the over 200 ranking signals that googles uses for each web page. The top SEO companies will know how these work and what most of these ranking signals are and how they effect a website.

Should I be obsessing about load times?

This is google saying that the load speed of the website is not as important as alot of SEO people are saying. Its only really going to be used as a tie breaker between 2 very similar websites.

Should I spend time on meta keywords tags?

This is google giving you an idea of which meta tags can help with your search engine ranking. The description can be good to create as it is what a user see’s in the search result befor going onto your website along with your page title. It does sound like Keyword Meta tags are rather pointless for google search engines, but they may still be used by other search engines.

Is Google Analytics data a factor in a page’s ranking?

I thought that this one was good to know. That how your website is performing in your google analytics does not effect your google search rank. So if you have a high bounce rate then it wont effect your website search rank. But it is still work looking at your analytics and trying to improve on them and get more conversions or sales from your website.
