Vision is precious to us all. As we age, we often become concerned about changes in our vision that could deprive us of the precious gift of sight. James R Shaw is a widely known name in Ayrshire and stands for excellent service and care throughout.

Ambition

Ikon Digital were approached by James R Shaw to give their website a fresh new style that had more impact and displays the website information in a clearer and more logical layout to help drive users to get in contact with them.

Actions

The Ikon Digital team came up with design concepts that would display the key information in the right areas while still being stylish and easy to navigate. The resulting website was developed using XHTML, CSS, jQuery and PHP.

As with most of our small sites, this website was mostly coded from scratch using a combination of the above technologies and some customised Javascript libraries for animation and DOM manipulation. The new James R Shaw website gives their visitors an improved browsing experience with a fresh and friendly styling.

Impact

Since Launch in November 2009 the website has seen good feedback from users.

Peacock Handling's complete warehousing solution has the ability to bag almost anything in any size bag and distribute it throughout the UK for any importer, exporter, or manufacturer.

Ambition

Peacock Salt contacted Ikon Digital with a new warehousing solutions website that was required to promote a new aspect of their business handling various logistics and shipping operations.

Based at Ayr Harbour, the aim was to produce a stylish website to explain exactly what shipping and warehousing services were on offer.

Actions

The Ikon Digital team met with Peacock Salt to discuss solutions to meet their requirements and talked through various design ideas to bring their vision to the web.

The technology behind peacock handling is XHTML, CSS, jQuery and PHP.

Actions

Hand crafted, this website was built using our expertise in XHTML, CSS, jQuery and PHP. Another website essentially created from the ground up, the Ian Templeton Blinds site uses various server side approaches to website coding that ensure maintenance and updates can be swiftly carried out by Ikon Digital staff.

To add impact, the stunning jQuery media viewer Shadowbox was implemented on the gallery pages.

ARD films – Web Design

A media investment and production company, Ard Films primary interests lie in developing scripts from original screenplay, through to funding, production and distribution with a stated aim to exploit and develop rights in film and television.

Ambition

ARD films approached Ikon Digital looking for a simple brochure website that would quickly inform clients and investors what they have been producing. A detailed web presence was not necessary at that stage and speed of production was a key factor.

Actions

Ikon Digital quickly produced a site fitting the client requirements within the specified time scale but was built in such a way that has potential for future expansion as ARD films produces more films and other media. The website was produced using XHTML and CSS.

The website was designed, built, reviewed, tested and made live within one week.

yipworld.com is an award winning social enterprise company, youth initiative, childcare and training provider based in Cumnock in East Ayrshire that provides a wide range of activities for children and young people on a daily basis from out of school care to senior drop-in.

Ambition

Yipworld.com were looking to produce a new younger style to the look of the website for their 10 year anniversary. The Ikon Digital Design & Development team worked with yipworld to produce the website that is inkeeping with there new current styling and branding.

Actions

Over a number of consultations, the design was evolved to appeal to the target audience and eventually emerged as the design running live. The website was developed using a combination of html, css and our content management system.

We also linked various popular social networking websites to the new website so that visitors can easily share the site with friends with an aim to increasing visitor numbers.

Impact

The new website launched April 2010 and is steadily growing in popularity and the number of user visits. The Ikon Digital team are working closely with yipworld.com to help them develop the website further and keep it up to date.

Arran Holiday Rentals – Ecommerce

Arran Holiday Rentals is a property management company in Glasgow and has an impressive range of luxury holiday homes available to rent on the stunning Island of Arran.

Ambition

Ikon Digital were approached by Arran Holiday Rentals to produce a bespoke content management and online booking system to allow staff to add, update and change all aspects of the various properties on their books. The Ikon Digital Ecommerce Team met up with Arran Holiday Rentals to discuss various options and design ideas for a fully featured online booking and reservation system.

The new website needed to be stylish, easy to use and rank highly for certain search terms.

Actions

The Ikon Digital team produced several design concepts and structures to show how visitors would find their way around the website. The website was produced using XHTML, CSS, jQuery, PHP, MySQL, Drupal, Ubercart and a hotel booking module.

The development of this website was a truly rewarding experience and involved heavy customisation and re-development of some core functionality within the CMS and the individual modules. The improvements allow users to search by date for properties available to rent and follows this search procedure all the way through to completing the booking of the property online. Combined with a stunning website design, complete content management and jQuery animation techniques showcases the various properties for rent.

Impact

Since launch in January 2010, the website has had alot of positive feedback and is getting steady traffic each week while moving up the listings for the target key terms in search engines.

The Belinda Robertson brand was born out of a desire by its creator, Belinda Dickson OBE, to create a fashionable, luxury item using traditional production methods. The result is the finest, most luxurious Scottish cashmere in the world.

Ambition

Ikon Digital was approached by Belinda Robertson to develop their new website and keep it within current company branding. The Ikon Digital Ecommerce team worked closely with Belinda Robertson to deliver a new and modern website that is more client friendly.

The new website needed to extend the product range and bring the e-marketing and the website together. The website also had to be easier for staff to maintain and update. The site needed to show off the Belinda Robertson cashmere ranges to give the shopper a fuller shopping experience and allow customers to purchase the bespoke Black Label range online.

Actions

The Ikon Digital Ecommerce team reviewed the user experience and worked closely with Belinda Robertson staff to ensure that the look and feel of the collections were reflected throughout the design of the site.

To achieve the goal, a mixture of XHTML, CSS, jQuery, PHP, MySQL, Drupal and its Ecommerce plugin Ubercart were blended to provide the site framework.

The improvements to the website were improving the top level navigation allowing users to access more areas of the website faster and more easily. An improved landing page with added impact helps showcase the various ranges of luxury cashmere on offer.

Social networking was also added to the website which will allow customers to chat and share thoughts about the products through the popular social media sites

Impact

The Belinda Robertson website was successfully launched March 2010 with its new style.
